Squash Courts
At Medowen, we have been installing squash court sprung floors and squash court glass back walls since the early 1980s. Medowen was instrumental in the organisation of The World Open Squash tournament held in South Africa in 1991. For this tournament, we built the very first all-glass squash court to be seen in South Africa. This original court can still be seen at Wanderers Squash Club in Gauteng.
Our squash court floors are all sprung floors. We use predominantly Hevea (Malaysian Rubber wood) or Beech and we ensure our timbers are all pre-machined at the factory to the exact squash court specification.
Our glass back walls are all manufactured locally to overseas specifications. We provide both 2-panel and 4-panel glass back wall systems.

Aerobics, Gym and Pilates Studios
Medowen first began construction of sprung aerobics and sprung gym floors back in the 1980s in partnership with Health & Racquet Club. Over the years, Medowen has extended its relationship with the big gym groups of Southern Africa and is now a preferred sub-contractor to both Virgin Active and Planet Fitness.
Medowen’s sprung aerobics and sprung gym floors are all built using 22mm sports flooring. These sprung solid wood floors can be built using a variety of different timbers.

Medowen also specialises in the construction of sprung arena flooring for court specific sports such as basketball, netball and badminton. These raised sprung floor structures can be up to 1000sqm in size.

Stages, Theatres, School Halls
Medowen's expertise in the construction of sprung floors lends itself to the building of stage and theatre flooring. Typically also built as a sprung floor, these can either be finished with solid wood, Masonite sheeting or even laminate on ply.
Theatre and school stages are built to a variety of different heights depending on client needs and specifications and, as such, Medowen's team of experts works closely with architects to ensure each job is tailor-made for each client.

Raised Timber Sub Floors
A hidden substructure that allows the client to run pipes and cabling under the floor cladding of their choice.
Medowen has vast experience in levelling of floors and, as such, has developed teams who specialise in the construction of various types of raised timber flooring structures.
